Description
A transdermal patch production line combines several machines into one manufacturing process. In a complete line, the coating machine applies the drug and adhesive layer, the drying system controls solvent or moisture removal, the die cutting machine cuts the patch shape, and the packing machine seals the finished patches into protective pouches.
However, one fixed design cannot fit every patch project. Adhesive formulation directly affects the coating head, drying length, temperature control, web tension and cleaning method. For this reason, SUNSEE first asks customers to confirm the adhesive before we design the coating section.
Main Line Process
- Adhesive and material confirmation
The customer confirms adhesive type, formulation features, backing material and release liner. Then SUNSEE checks whether the project needs a standard coating machine or a customized coating solution.
- Mixing and material preparation
The customer prepares the drug, adhesive and related materials according to the product formula. After that, the coating material enters the coating section.
- Coating
The coating machine applies the adhesive and drug layer onto the backing material or suitable substrate. SUNSEE selects the coating method according to adhesive behavior and required coating accuracy.
- Drying
The coated web passes through the drying section. Temperature, airflow and drying time must match the adhesive and product requirements.
- Lamination and cooling
The line can laminate the release liner and cool the web before cutting. This step helps stabilize the material before die cutting.
- Die cutting
The die cutting machine cuts patches into the required size and shape. Also, SUNSEE can customize the die according to patch design and liner opening requirements.
- Pouch packing
The 4 side sealing packing machine packs the patches into protective pouches. The pouch protects the patch from moisture, oxygen, light and contamination.
- Optional box packing
When the buyer needs a more automatic line, SUNSEE can connect pouch packing with box packing, labeling or other downstream equipment.

FAQ
Why does SUNSEE ask for the adhesive type first?
Adhesive type affects coating method, drying temperature, drying time, cleaning method and safety design. Therefore, SUNSEE needs adhesive information before recommending the coating machine.
Can one coating machine handle all patch adhesives?
No single coating machine fits every adhesive perfectly. Different adhesives may need different coating heads, drying systems and temperature control. SUNSEE checks the real adhesive before giving a solution.
What if I have not confirmed the adhesive yet?
You can still send your product idea and target patch size. However, SUNSEE can only give a preliminary line direction. The final coating machine solution should wait until you confirm the adhesive.
Can SUNSEE connect coating, die cutting and packing together?
Yes. SUNSEE can design a line that connects coating, drying, die cutting, 4 side sealing pouch packing and optional box packing.
What patch products can this line make?
The line can support many patch products, including pain relief patches, hydrogel patches, medical plasters, nicotine patches, hormone patches, motion sickness patches, cosmetic patches and skincare patches.
Can the die cutting machine make different patch shapes?
Yes. SUNSEE can customize the die cutting mold according to patch size, shape and liner opening requirement.
What packaging machine is used after die cutting?
Many patch projects use a 4 side sealing packing machine after die cutting. This machine seals each patch in a protective pouch to help protect product stability.
