Description

A flow wrap packing machine, also called a horizontal packing machine or pillow packing machine, wraps products continuously with roll film. It works well for products with a regular shape, stable feeding direction and clear length requirement.

Compared with a 4 side sealing packing machine, flow wrap packing usually gives better speed and lower film cost for solid products. However, 4 side sealing works better when the product needs a flat pouch with stronger airtight protection on all sides.

Main Applications

IndustryProduct Examples
Food packagingCandy, bread, cookies, chocolate bars, ice cream, vegetables and snacks
Medical packagingPlaster patches, pills, foam patches, stickers, bandages, tooth stickers, surgical products and masks
Daily-use packagingPaper cups, lunch boxes, cards, toothpaste, brushes, pens, gloves and small consumer products
Hardware packagingDoor handles, keys, locks, auto parts, screws, banners, pipes and similar products

For best performance, the product should feed smoothly on the conveyor and keep a stable position before entering the forming area.

How the Machine Works

  1. Product feeding

The operator places products on the conveyor, or an automatic feeder sends products into the machine. Then the conveyor moves each product toward the film forming area.

  1. Film entry

Roll film enters the machine horizontally and matches the product flow direction. Therefore, the machine can wrap products continuously.

  1. Film forming

The forming device folds the film around the product. In this step, the film covers the product and prepares the center seam.

  1. Center sealing

The heat-sealing wheel seals the film edge and creates the back seal or bottom seal of the pillow pack.

  1. End sealing and cutting

The cutting jaw seals both ends of the pack and cuts each bag to the required length.

  1. Finished product output

Finished packs leave the machine smoothly for collection, inspection, cartoning or downstream packing.

FAQ

What is a flow wrap packing machine?

A flow wrap packing machine wraps products horizontally with roll film, seals the center seam, then seals and cuts both ends to make pillow packs.

What products can this machine pack?

It can pack food, medical products, daily-use products and hardware items. Common examples include bread, cookies, plaster patches, masks, paper cups, toothpaste, gloves, screws and small parts.

What film materials can the machine use?

The machine can use OPP, BOPP and laminated film. Also, buyers can use printed film when the machine includes mark tracking.

What is the normal speed?

The reference capacity is 30-100 pcs/min. Actual speed depends on product size, film material, feeding method, bag length and sealing requirement.

Which model should I choose?

SUNSEE recommends the model according to product size and required film width. XZB250 suits smaller packs, XZB350 covers medium packs, and XZB550 supports larger film width and longer bag length.

When is flow wrap better than 4 side sealing?

Flow wrap works better for regular solid products that need pillow packaging and continuous speed. In contrast, 4 side sealing works better for flat products that need a pouch sealed on all four sides.
